CD Player Gremlin

Very, very, occasionally, my CD player, (04 MR2, Toyota Audio Kit)  will spoil music with series of rapid, no sound, interrupts - as if someone is switching the kit on/off, on/off, on/off etc.  It happens once every umpteen miles and so would be almost impossible to demonstrate to a MrT techy.  It can last to the end of a track (?), stops if kit switched off then on again and the CDs are absolutely 100% in other players?

Intermittent snags are so difficult to demonstrate.  This reminds me of a story about an airline pilot who wrote in his after flight report, "Autopilot very dodgy on final approach"  Not long afterwards the ground engineers signed the aircraft out again saying, "Autopilot not fitted to this type!!."

Has anyone experienced this (CD player) problem and is audio kit covered by the (3yr) guarantee?

Hope to hear from the experts soon.... I tried the 'Search' function, honest.    Regards,    S'man.
Sold after 4 great years......         04 \'2\', 6s, Silver, TTE Interior Trim Kit No 1, TTE Sports Twin Exhausts.

"An MR2 is good for you."

Sorry - not this exact problem.
Although I have found that the Toyota post 03 cd player in my car is very very prone to skipping.

The Sony unit in my '01 model went duff, and was handled under warranty; although the replacement unit was a refurb, not a new one.  I would expect that the Fisher Price unit has the same cover.  Probably worth a call to your local dealer to see if it's a known issue, or if they are prepared to swap it out even if you can't demonstrate the problem on the day.

Having said that, it might be the excuse you need to upgrade the unit to get some better sounds (if better sounds in a car floats your boat).

I think this is just a problem with bumpy roads and firm suspension. After all, the laser is trying to track a pretty small path. The problem you're describing sounds like that to me.

Of course, it could also be a sign that the laser is on its way out, but if it's doing okay 99.9% of the time, I doubt that's it.
