What speaker wire is behind the door card?

Right I'm planning to replace the stock speakers in the next week or so.

I've bought the Infinity 65.7cs and have the template spacers good to go.

However when I take the door panel off what wiring to the existing speakers can I use?

My system has a cross over for 1 input and a sub and tweeter output.
Can I somehow use whats there or will I need to run an additional feed from the head unit through to the cross over input?

Any photos would help.

I'm hoping can I used the existing feed to the woofer as my x over input then  create my sub and treble outputs from this?

I'm up for a simple solution rather than running cables back..

if you mount the crossover in teh door, just use the wires as the crossover in annd then wire our from there.

it's shit quality though

Right then Mark,

So you are suggesting running a new feed from the HU to the X over?

If so what is the best way to connect this to the back of the standard sony HU. I've seen the ISO diagram is it a question of working out the correct colour feeds for front L/R +/- and connect it here, Scotch locks / similar?

You definitely need more wiring because the OEM doesn't allow for an intermediate box. However, if you mount the crossover between the speakers on the door the amount needed would probably be minimal.

What I did was mount the crossover on the polystyrene block on the door card. I then extend the wires with plenty of play, so I can take the door card off (if needed, might never !) without worrying about pulling wires out, or ripping crossover from its mounting.

Did think about re-wiring totally but decided against it. Not sure if that means my sound is as good as it could be, but IMO its good enough.

I black taped the crossover box to that piece of foam then plugged it back into position. perfect.

Ive added to this post instead of adding another thread, Ive bought a set of FLI 5.25 components and was wondering by using the original speaker and tweeter wiring how i can set the components up using the crossover as i have two inputs (speaker and tweeter) and just one output. Just need to know where i can get a feed from as i'm not using an additional amp?

Thanks

do a full rewire, its not hard and doesn't take long, worst part is getting the wiring through the rubber tubes that you can see when you open the door, but a wire coat hanger thats opened out and the tip bent over will help with that one. A good audio electrical shop will also be able to supply you with the crimps that are required to repin the ISO connector at the back of the head unit

To help get the new wires through you can add a little washing up liquid to the end to help them slide through easier.

Well I done all that in my Clio Sport, uprated all the speakers, had an amp and rewired everything but I'm not too bothered about doing that on the mr2. I just wanna get rid of the cardboard effect.
