looking at putting a nav pod and screen in the car.

would a 7" screen fit in there.

basically what is the largest screen you can get in, or will i need to adjust the facia to fit?

or if i want 7" how easy would it be to fabricate my own nav pod out of fibre glass etc

speak to stu, the canoe man.

he has an awesome set up in the centre console IIRC.
Ex \'51 Roadster, now  Verso SR !!! the official MR2ROC support vehicle.

a bloke with a flint would likely have been an improvement

fabricating a custom navpod set up would be quite tricky, I made one for a mate to take his motirised screen in his roadster but for a full screen is another story.

Mine has a 7" screen in it

The basics are that the screen area of the navpod is quite small, but from the front face, it 'funnels' back to this smaller screen area.  Therefore if you trim away at it, bringing the actual screen area further forward the area becomes larger as you go.

you will see on the piccy that I have added two small side panesl (one each end - silver)  these were to fill the gap left as the screen wasnt as wide as the gap left.  This was unavoidable as to gain the correct height/space for the screen, left too wider hole.

I also trimmed a little off the screen surround on each top corner for it to fit  (7" wide screen monitor) but this will vary greatly on the make of screen and how its arranged

fixing the screen in is easiest done with some dabs of silicone around its perimeter, if you plan on having the screen reusable, then wrap masking tape around where the silicone will be sticking first.

hope that helps matey?   s:) :) s:)

Not a great pic I know but thats an "Ebay special" 7 inch screen. I did have to cut the plastic frame down abit around the screen to make it fit in the cubby hole but fits great with no gaps.
