Just installed Parrot 3100ck with my Alpine 9850ri

I can't believe how easy it turned out, although I had searched the forums here and worldwide beforehand to know what I was letting myself in for.

I already had the ISO plugs in for the Alpine, and I just had to plug in the Parrot leads in between the Alpine and the ISO which connects to the Toyota plugs.

I did not even need to find a mute lead as it automatically takes care of this.

The screen is just underneath my Alpine as I had bought an Autoleads din box which has a shelf underneath, thanks to Matt on this forum. I ran the mic under the steering wheel and up the windscreen pillar where I have stuck a rotating pin so that the visor can come down and up.

The box goes right behing the centre post with all the stereo wiring, it is getting a little crowded there, is there anyway to seal all of that off with carpet?

The unit sounds and performs excellent, even with the top down. I have a Nokia N80 and had to install a quick patch on the phone so that it forwards my whole address book to the unit. The voice dialling feature is amazing.

I would heartily recommend this to anyone and will post up photos soon.

I believe a parrot is a bluetooth car kit that is connected to your radio to turn it down and then the sound comes through the speakers.

My apologies.
The kit picks up any bluetooth phone and acts as a full carkit. You can keep the phone in your pocket and still make and receive calls. It is a really good bluetooth connection (some other kits sound terrible) and of course if I change my phone, I can still use the kit provided I have a bluetooth enabled phone.

Saves me 3 points and £1000.00 fine as the phone only ever rings when I am driving!!!

Agree they're good kits. Bizarrely I've found that the caller gets better reception from you when you're top-down  s:? :? s:?  Perhaps something to do with the feedback circuitry having less in-car resonance to handle.

Best position for the mic - I've found - is half-way up the pillar. Its nicely sheltered there and picks up passengers too.

May be flogging mine soon - its got bluetooth GPS built-in which I don't need now as I've got a receiver on my new phone.  s8) 8) s8)  You can sometimes get a bit of grief on connection with older phones ... which is down to the phone's bluetooth stack being a bit naff. But J, if you want to try your phone on my kit you're very welcome.

Funnily enough I have just changed my Nokia and my Palm Tungsten TX for one of these XDA Orbit which I think is actually the same as the new HTC

Still trying to get used to it as an every day phone although its actually very slim, but the biggest thing is it has SATNAV built in, so I now always have a sat nav in the car  s:) :) s:)

Twas free on an O2 upgrade.

They are fantastic devices now, especially with the new 5.0 software. Works pretty well out of the box, unlike my N80 which is on it's 3rd firmware upgrade  s:( :( s:(

I've gone and ordered an N95 (like I did not learn the last time)

Slight drift but not worth a fresh thread .... (*slaps own wrists*)

Craig - have you found a decent powered car mount for this? Seems daft that the phone is free and something like the Brodit mount is over £50  s:? :? s:?

The Brodit is the only one I have seen that is powered, and yep its about £40 on ebay!.

I have a normal one that came with the copilot package (scrapped the softwaare and run Tomtom on it instead).

To be honest I dont travel the distances to really need the power, or I just plug in the power underneith if I need to.  Flipping good devices, just not as easy as using a normal phone, but I guess you have to give a take
