Hi there. I am in the process of trying to install some Infinity Kappa speakers. I am trying to re-use the plastic body of the original speakers to mount the Infinitys.

The problem I have is that the screw holes in the speakers are really close to the rubber bit round the edge of the speaker, and seem to pinch it when tightened. Has anybody else had a similar problem with these speakers and is there a way round it?

Also, the screws that come with the speakers are not long enough to pass through the empty space in the plastic body of the old speaker and reach anything solid, so I'm having to use bigger screws which is making the problem worse.

I know I'm probably making something out of nothing but would really like some ideas, don't want to wreck the speakers!

Thanks.

Agreed, make up some MDF mounts using the old speakers as a template.

There is a thread on the subject under Reference

My speakers came with a little stepped washer to clear the rubber bit.

I have considered the MDF route, and mocked up my first attempt, but seeing how damp the original speakers were when I removed them I would prefer to use the original plastic affairs with the lip to at least keep some moisture out.

Never thought about the washer idea though, or even checked the bag to see if anything like that was included! Will be something I'll look into, especially since I can then whack in some longer screws without worrying about the size of the heads!

Thanks for the suggestions, even having read the sticky etc, it's still reassuring to be able to ask about these type of things!
