Right I was at my mates house reading through a chinese car magazine.
And it seems Hong Kong MR-S have electric roof.
It was like a Hong Kong Auto-Trader and was asking him to translate the advert.
And he mentioned electric roof. I thought it was only that one but then all the other MR-S has electric roof.
Just wanted to know if they really do exist?

I don't think they exist. Never heard of them and I used to hang out on MR-S forum in Hong Kong some years ago!  s:lol:  s:lol:

Maybe it was electric glass heater or windows or something else...?
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

Typo error? Where would they put the motor for it...and I thought that the design criteria for our little cars was keeping the weight down so thats why an electric roof was not put on them.

Well when i thought electric roof. Surely the Japan ones where they come from have electric roof aswell. Why would only Hong Kong ones have them.
Ohwell I got happy over nothing lol.

I've never heard of that either - the Boxster looks quite like the MR2 and I think that has an electric roof?

I can't remember the vehicle but some sexy lady was driving a convertible last night and the roof was the worst thing I have ever seen on a vehicle.  It sort of flopped over the back of the car.

I'd love one - can't beat electric vs. having to get out of the car to put the roof down.

Hmm, I can put down and raise the 2's roof whilst in the drivers seat with the buffeting deflector up - no need to get out?

Unfortunately they're not all that well mannered - many peoples roofs simply won't fold down and lock in without more pressure than can be applied while trying to twist around in the seat.

Quality Control was pretty variable on the roof mechanism..

So it would seem   s:? :? s:?

I've noticed that the 'PULL' tab sometimes won't recede back and needs a bit of encouragement, but aside from that, it's kosher.

Still, we can't complain since we get a proper heated glass rear.

Yep - mine never will either.. I have to 'feed' the rear window down into it's resting place, tuck the back of the roof in (not the ears - the whole back that's meant to fold inward between the bars) then shove the front down and belt the pull tab so it locks the roof down.

Boy did I look a right tw*t trying to do that from the drivers seat the other day!  s:lol:  s:lol:

Some people can just push the roof back and it all folds itself down and locks in with zero pressure.  I hate those people...  s;) ;) s;)

Still, if QC from the factory was variable - it's even worse if you have the roof replaced by Toyota.. Stu went through four or five of them before they got it right!  s:lol:  s:lol:

I must be one of the lucly ones then. Can do mine from the drivers seat.

Still would much prefer it to be electric.

I'd rather have the cubbies, than 50Kg of winding mechanism   s:wink:  s:wink:

Probably because I'm one of the lucky ones with an easy shut.

I dropped my roof accidently this lunch time when putting it down (from the outside). It folded its self neatly and locked with a click.

Normally I have to coax the glass to go flat so I don't break it. Ah more benefits of the hot weather.
