I have the Standard Sony Double Din HU (WX-C570R) in my 2 and want to connect my Ipod using the dock connector on the bottom,
can anybody tell me the best way to do this? I'm not interested in any of the FM transmitter ways of doing this and prefer to use a wired method utilising the RCA input jacks on the back of the HU.

After doing a search all of the links to any products that can do this are old so do not work, surely there must be a cable that will allow direct connection? even with out being able to control the Ipod all I want to do is actually hear it through the HU.

I have looked at the Connects2 but I can't find the right part number that will match the sony so any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Bluey

search my threads, from about summer 06 and it should bring it up.

I can vouch for the connection cables being a little bit ropey.

I would seriously suggest an alpine headunit that comes with all the ipod cabling with it. I went down that route and haven't looked back it's great!

Bearing in mind the connection cable can cost between 100 and 150 quid, you can get a shiney new head unit for around that or maybe a little more.

i too went for the alpine.  9850i or similar

as ian says, its the canine doobliwhotsits. no fuss, and full control over the ipod. plus the sound is even better.

if your looking to improve things further, dynomat your doors for some sound proofing.

Well in the end I decided to upgrade the whole sound system and went for this lot instead:
Alpine IDA-X100 H/U
Infinity Kappa 65.7cs  component speakers
bucket loads of dynamat on the doors   s:mrgreen:  s:mrgreen:

Hopefully will have it all installed this weekend

Well I have got the head unit in and have made better use of the passenger window disable switch (now used to extend/retract the aerial)
already a huge difference to the sound quality even with the stock speakers, weather permitting I will get the doors dynamatted and the new Kappa's in this weekend.

nice work. if you think it sounds good now, wait til you have done the speakers and dynomat. it makes a massive difference.  good to see you find a use for the window switch. thats one of my favourite mods.
