I recently had a short behind my head unit. now there is no power to my head unit or to my cig lighter. no fuses have blown and I have checked the passenger fuse box and the radio 1, radio2 and cig lighter fuses are all ok with a miultimeter.

I am guessing that as they are switched via the ignition that there is someone who might point me in the right direction.

Did a search but came up with nothing

Thanks in advance  s:D :D s:D    s:D :D s:D

Hi.

Not sure what year your car is, but I'd say it might be worth contacting your dealer if it falls between the dates in this thread:

Hi,

I'm no specialist but have fitted alot of Radios, Cds in my time.
Suggest you test the switched live and the constant live as it goes into the unit. The only other I can think of is the earth.

Hope this helps.

I think it has somthing to do with a relay that operates via the ignition, as my cig lighter and stereo both went dead at the same time. no fuses blew and there is no power to either, regardless of any load connected or ignition on or off?   s:( :( s:(

The radio2 fuse and cig lighter fuse wires are the only ones that go into the ACC relay. Bottom RH of 3 relays in door fuse box.

No electrician but could that be the problem? You could try testing that.
