I've just bought a Sony MEX-BT5700U for the Berlingo. I'm a bit disappointed with it, Mainly because when playing from memory stick it pauses between tracks. It's really annoying.
Has anyone else had experience of this with a different devices that plays direct from USB storage?
I've not owned any other MP3 gear so don't know if it's Sony being Sony or just the way it work with all devices.

could it possibly be that the usb is set up with a second between each track ?

Not sure how that would work. The tracks are in a folder as they are on my PC and that plays them with no pause, but that's the only thing I have to compare it with.

Providing the gap isn't a user configurable option in the stereo settings (it probably isn't) then unfortunately this is probably due to the way the device is decoding the MP3's. Its can be an inherent problem with certain manufacturer's MP3 decoding.
There are solutions - though rarely does an actual 'fix' by the manufacturer surface.

Have a read of the following site for better info than I can provide...

I get the same thing on a factory MP3 capable CD player in our Seat. My MP3 player does it too.

It's irritating on albums where tracks mix from one to the next, but I haven't found out how to fix it though   s:( :( s:(

I've heard of this problem with a few Sony units my mates have got, but on my Ripspeed (yes I know, but it was cheap for what it was!) there's no gap at all.

Like above, unless there's an option on the headunit it probably is just how it manages files on a USB. One way around it might be somehow recording all your songs from an album onto one .mp3 track which plays continuously.

+1

For mixes that you want to play continuously, concatenate the tracks into a single mp3.  Bit of a pain, but should see you right.

I use a program called Audacity for such things - it's free.  I don't have a link to hand, but Google should get you there.

Cheers Guys.

That's cool. I won't sent it back then. I have asked Sony the question so will wait for feed back there.

I was thinking about the merging tracks thing. May be worth it just for my favorite mixes but I have masses of mixed music so not practical for all.
