I know that is probably the wrong time of year for this one... but its been driving me mad all winter that the leather seats have been freezing in the morning.   s:x :x s:x

Has anyone had a go at fitting seat heating into a 2?
Does anyone know anything about seat heating?

Can I simply strip the elements out of a wrecked Meredes etc. them slide underneath the seat covers, wire in a switch and a fuse and off we go, or is there more to it than that?

It's pretty much just that.

Finnish Toyota installs heaters to every imported Toyota, so I have them myself. They are great at colder weather  s8) 8) s8)

If totyta do a antoher modle with heated seats which im sure they do go to the scrappy and remove them (just cut the seat and remove the element)

then get the compnay to reomvoe the 2's seat covers and then cut the foam out neatly and then place element inside then put the bit of foam you just cut out back dont glue incase you need to replace the element.

Then get a 12V supply and earth and just simply swicth them on using a sinle throw double posisiton switch   s:lol:  s:lol:

You mean cut the foam from the inside of the covers? I don't think there's any need for that. Finnish Toyota doesn't do that and I didn't do it when I installed the elements to my Mk1. Actually I think it just hides the elements from the butt, so you won't feel anything but the heat  s8) 8) s8)

Btw, a pair of elements with adjustable heating was only about 10e/pair some years ago. Might not be worth the trouble of hunting used ones..?
(pair meaning for butt+back, so you need one pair/seat)

Thanks guys, even though I bet all this earth wiring/double pole switching thing is more fiddly then Buster makes out and involves contortionist like hand movements in small spaces. (the only downside of the 2)

However, Tem where did you see heathing elements for about 10e? That sounds pretty good to me.

I got mine from  m http://www.motonet.fi/ m
(local car parts store)

They are about the same in every store though...

How much did you pay Tem? Went on the site, but obviously in your language. (Got us Brits are crap and lazy at languages.  s:oops:  s:oops:  ) Did you fit them yourself? Easy/difficult?

Like I said, they were about 10e when I had a Mk1...

They seem to be 14,80e today (probably not exactly same anyway):
"Lämpöistuinelementti 12V term. 48-2410 14.80"
Roughly translated to..."seat heater element 12V with thermostat, part number, price"

I did fit them myself and it's pretty easy. Just remove the seat cloth from one side and slide the element under it. Then you just need to install switches and connect the wires...
