We've had some real heavy snow up here in the north east.  All but the major roads in Sunderland are white with ice and compacted snow.  The MR2 has stayed on the drive for the last few days but today I decided to brave it and give it a go.

Wasn't as bad as I was expecting actually.  On slushy main roads no worries, on white roads it gets a bit dicey.  Generally I found it was a case of either use light throttle or steer.  Trying to use any throttle at all with any sort of steering resulted in oversteer.  Still when the back end did get excited it was very easy to correct given the low speeds. I also found using 3rd at 15mph and keeping the revs at about 1K helped.  1st gear was totally useless and 2nd only good to pull away in.

This was on bridgestone potenza's all round with good tread.

The best bit was driving past a guy who had abandoned his audi A4  s:lol:  s:lol:  he'd stopped on a frozen section of road and had zero traction to move his 2 ton beast off it.  Oh and getting overtaken doing 30mph in a 70 (road was bad) by a 1.6 petrol qashqai!

I've just been to Guisborough in my Honda, theres over a foot of snow on the NY Moors.
Here in Redcar just a few inches due to the sea air.

I came back and cleared a space in the garage for the MR2.

I may as well take advantage of the bad weather and crack on with my list of jobs :
Clear condensation in rear lights
Pre-cat removal
Fit new single DIN stereo
Clean and treat roof
Order and fit heated seat elements
Clean engine bay
etc etc
MR2 \'Red\' Edition - \'54 Reg.  Mods : Clarion FZ709E Single Din Stereo, Pre-cats Removed

Was coming home in my MR-S last night in the snow, tbh not too bad bit harder than fwd but not too challenging. Just glad ive got 4x brand spanking new T1R's on it  s:) :) s:)  - does feel a bit light front end but taking it easy means this wasnt a problem.
