I bought a Toyota remote/transponder from ebay a few months ago with the intention of putting it in a new shell and getting a key cut and then programming it myself but the one I bought won't work with my car.

I have heard that there are two types used on the MR2, and the picture attached is the one that won't work on my car (2003 facelift). Please can anyone tell me if there's is the same as this, and if so what year your car was made. This is so I know what I can sell it on as. You can't quite read it, but on the bottom right it says Valeo. Thank you  s:) :) s:)

That's the same as my working ones.

Anyone with a prefacelift know what their remotes look like inside?

Thanks for the pictures, it seems the remote I have is not for MR2s.

Deadmau5 - did you have any luck with this? I've just got the same transponder and was about to try and reprogram the it.

By the way, do you have work through both the  Remote and Immobilser steps as described here:  l viewtopic.php?f=47&t=23563 l   ?

Thanks,

I believe he has sold it.

I've programmed a key - remote and immobiliser using the the stuff in the reference section

Do you know whether you had the transponder where the battery is exposed or the one that has a black plastic cover over the battery?

I'll give the re-programming a go tonight and see how it goes (I've got the black plastic cover transponder). I take it I need to programme the alarm bit and then also program the immobiliser bit?

Thanks

If yours looks like the one I posted in the first picture it won't work I don't think. You need one with a clear battery cover on the back.
