It says in their text
Please note that for later generation Classic, Touch and iPhones, you will need a charging adaptor which we can also supply.

Does this answer your question?

Have you tried an eternal supply to the Ipod yet?

the ipods work fine, the issue is the hu i think and the connects2 being incompatible, it seems all the various adaptors you can get list mr2 2000-2005 but i cant believe Toyota changed the hu for the last year

AFAIK there were onlyt 2 models of head unit, pre facelift and post, both of which were pretty rubbish, why dont you get a head unit with iplod adaptor built in?

Interesting, methinks they have their HU's wrong for the years of car.
Do you have a photo of your HU you can share with us?

Just like my 2003 SMT 6sp

HU 58806

Connectors

I was thinking of doing the same thing. It saves leaving a good quality HU on show so I can leave the roof off and walk away.
Sound quality with roof down is fine, I hardly ever drive with roof up.

Looks like the company supplying thae adaptors have got it all reversed then ... I'd be asking for my money back, or a swap for the right item.

FYI I explored this route years ago, but the connects2 boxes were silly money and it cost about the same to have a new HU fitted with the iPod connector designed into it.

It's not the cost of the HU that worries me, it's the fact that the chances of a cheap HU getting stolen is a lot lower, and I wont have to deal with insurance company if a tealeaf comes along. Ipod/phone stays in my pocket.
It's horse for courses. Neither answer is right or wrong.

I can relate to that, part of the reason why i got a HU that actually looks quite old fashioned, but is actually pretty clever.

after getting no response from connects2 decided on a xcarlink which actually list 58806 on compatible list but you need the 98-03 version !!

CTATYIPOD003 connects2 i can confirm does not work on 58806

another update, got the xcarlink and it would not work arghhhh

ipod charges but no sound, noticed the plug i had removed to plug in the xcarlink had 2 wires connected to it, seems these need leaving connected so out with the soldering iron and soldered these to into the xcarlink plug and it finally works, what a faff to get a ipod connected, have the ipod nicely hidden away in the glovebox and stuck the xcarlink box behind the glovebox
