I have got a JVC headunit that has two preouts, i currently have two active subs which ar eusing up the two preouts. However i have purchased some hertz front speakers and tweeters as the 2000 mrs front speakers are kack and have no tweeters.

My problem is iv been advised to amp them to get the most out of them, but im guessing i need another preout for the amp and iv already got both used up. Is there any way around this?

Aapart from losing one of the active subs

Cheers for any advice

Matt

run a splitter on one set of preouts for both subs

this wont effect the sound quality or watts received by the subs?

preouts are line level, you may need to turn up the gain on teh amp ever so slightly but no major issue

even better if you can daisy chain the amps, does either one have a passthrough?

Well the teo active subs have built in amps and i dont know what a passthrough is to tell you, sorry. I was hoping to do something like said above. Use 1 preout = run 2 active subs in the bins and then 1 preout = to an amp then the amp to the front speakers/tweeters/crossovers

Splitter to the 2 amps sounds more viable and much less work for you. What kind of control do you have over the outputs from the headunit?

Yup, no brainer this one.  Two RCA leads from the HU.  One split to the subs and one to an amp driving the fronts.  Then setup the LPF on the HU to stop the fronts getting anything below from 120hz to 80hz.

PS what Hertz components did you buy?  I just saw the entry level DSKs going for £90 new!
