hello, i have a mr2 mk3 yr2000 i have owned it 4 months now but recently (like the past month) the Sony radio in the car turns itself off after about 5 minutes and refuses to turn back on is there a way to fix this or is the radio broken? and where would i find a new radio if i need one?

That sounds like a radio problem. You need to check that the power to the radio is still on. Does the antenna go down when the radio shuts itself off?

Lots of options for Head Units, too many to advise, it depends what you want, single din, double din, remote amp etc etc. Using the search button and reading other peoples experiences will help.

yes the antenna does go down when it turns off, it even makes the 'beep' as if you've pushed the button, sometimes it ejects my tape adapter, and it always seems to have power as it displays the correct time. its as if some one has turned it off and disabled the buttons. i don't know much about cars or their radios, but the only reason i use the tape rather than cd is because i connect my mp3 for music, using an adapter. im glad to hear its probably just the radio though, my mum had a car and the loom burnt through, and that started with a temperamental radio

I wonder if it is overheating and the failsafe is to shut itsself down?
If you want to stay standard I have used replacement units.

Or just a bad power connection?

check the switched live and earth. Most probably is a buggered stereo. Try it in a mates car is probably the quickest way to find out what's wrong.
I'm not saying I'm batman. I'm just saying that nobody has ever seen me and batman in a room together.
