...as I have these but they aren't yet fitted am i correct in saying that when fitted to a prefacelift the main beam on dash light doesn't work?..and is this an MOT fail?

..i read a post the other day that suggested this is now an MOT failure??..not sure if thats correct or not?!

..has anyone managed to fit these and have them working 100% on a prefacelift...as if there are problems with Main Beam Dash..i may well go for a set of new prefacelift.

Cheers
Paul

If you install them correctly, everything will work in exactly the same way as it does on the facelift model

Are you sure Russ as im sure that everyone who's followed your wiring diagram has had exactly that issue?

Do you think it would be still MOT friendly to have a blue led bulb to come on somewhere on the dash?

if you go down that route you might as well use the actual bulb and just change its live wire mate.

...did you manage to look into this after? ...i'm still pondering whether to sell my facelift headlights and buy a new set of prefacelifts instead!

i have looked more into it and the light is controlled by the clocks from what i can see at the moment. so im afraid no blue light at current.

I don't know if this is of use, but when I had my digital dash installed on my V6 ( which was a facelift) I seem to recall that one side of the warning light was live and it was the earth side that was switched for the main beam warning light. May be of no help at all, but thought I'd mention it.

Thank you nige. Both sides are negative without full beam but then one side becomes positive when full beam is on. Be good to see a facelift clocks circuit board to see what the difference is

Dragging up this thread to duplicate this info from another thread on it, as my blue beam works but here is why:

Ok, normal operation of the FL headlights is that the dipped stays on when you pop the main on and the blue dash light comes on.
I swapped 2 pins on mine and now the blue light works but the dipped goes off when the main is on. It's bright enough do hasn't bothered me.

I do however intend to figure this out using this info and existing knowledge on here, but as I say I've not been fussed up until now.

nathanMR2

Do you remember which 2 pins you swapped over Paul?

Is anyone aware if just having the full beam on, without the main beam will still cause an issue MOT time?

AmeR

I've passed an MOT with it no issues and the main beam seems to be plenty bright enough - even better than the prefacelift. Hence it has never bothered me.
I can't recall exactly which 2 unfortunately but when I get my car back and the front end off, I'll take some pictures to upload here too.

Just wired up face lift headlights and got it correct 1st attempt! However my mr2 is SORN'd so no immediate need to sort out MOT yet however Russ's diagram has brought up the blue dash light issue like many others... Was there any further news on the 2 pins that were swapped over. If so, some pics would be great to see!?!
