OK, I'm not into radio wiring so please don't ask me to use the search button   s:D :D s:D

I need to buy an adaptor to connect the old one piece plug to the new two piece socket and also a stubby airial connector to a longer one. This seems easy but the old unit has three blue wires which  are taped up. Any ideas as to what these are for?

Also there is a separate connection for a woffer which I think I understand and a bluetooth arial. Do I need to connect that to anything?

As usual, thanks in anticipation.

Well the thought of doing that really lurched me into action   s:D :D s:D
Found the wiring diagram on the net, unfortunately after having to search.

One blue wire would operate a remote aerial, the second would connect to an in car phone and the third to a remote amp so basically I just leave it as it is. The bluetooth aerial on the new radio is I guess exactly what the tag on it says.

Looks like I'm going to have to cut and splice the wiring though because I can't find an adaptor to connect the Sony wiring to the iso plugs on the new radio, only the other way 'round (iso plugs on the car to 16pin socket for a Sony radio).

Thanks anyway for the interest

Just to finish the story, pulled the wires out of the dash ready to cut and there appears an iso connection. The last guy needed an adaptor to fit the Sony radio.

Unplug that and the car leads plug straight into the new unit. Not only that, the aerial adaptor I thought I would need was in the old radio

Job done, but have you ever felt a prat?   s:lol:  s:lol:

s:lol:  s:lol:   I think that helps reception.

So, There is a fault with the radio, a hinge thing has broken off so it's out of the car and back to Aldi in the morning.

When taking the radio out I find that there is an adaptor between the iso plugs and what, I hope, is the original BMW wiring. This thing had more radio wires than Cable and Wireless   s:lol:  s:lol:   (How can you call a car radio wireless?).

I will win, this is now a challenge!

If the replacement falls though (they may have sold out) then I'm looking to put an original BMW one back in so may well need your expertise.
