hi everyone
just a small question im sorry if its been asked before couldnt find it when searching ive been looking at my aerial and it looks like an after market one has been fitted at somepoint and the previous owner has run 2 new wires to it which look abit messy, i found a plug inside the rear wing which i guess is the original plug tested it with and without the ignition on for 12v thinking 1 must be permenant live and one ignition or radio live but no joy so back to my original question is there a fuse for the aerial and where is it.

The plug you found may well have been for the rear window heater. Press the switch for that in the cabin, and it should be live. If that's the case you might have to scratch around for the socket!!!

Is it definitely an electrical aerial?

The fuses that hold the radio and aerial are in the box at the end of the fascia when you open passenger door.. Radio 1, Radio 2, AM1, ACC, Gauge plus 2 relays. Might be one of those, or a combination   s:?: :?: s:?:

Sounds like someone decided not to replace the standard mast, a well documented problem, and ripped the old mostly good one out.
Shame when http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SALE-AERIAL-MAST-TOYOTA-MR2-MK2-5-REV2-5-ROADSTER-LOCATED-on-the-BACK-WING-/110951313202?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19d536af32 would have done the job.

Hope you find the fuses and tidy up the debris.

Yea it's defiantly an electric aerial done search on eBay and found the same sort of thing it's a aftermarket 1 looks like someone couldn't work out how to wire it into the iso plug behind the stereo so they have put new wires in gona have look later just hope it's not a fault on the loom that's y they have bypassed it
