lower uj steering joint compatibility

hi ever one im trying to find out if the mk2 lower steering uj shaft is the same as the roadster they look the same but not sure if any ones done it before... my one right now is trashed with rust.... and fairly lose im not wanting to spend £££ on this as iv just had to get a recon motor due to oval bore, piston slap...
