missfire and cuts out after5 minutes

i have an mr2 with a 3S FE engine  A sensor has broken, its on the thermostat housing and has a grey plug with 2 wires what does it do?  it is next to the eng management coolant temp sensor (green plug )

I think you might want to have a look over on IMOC or MR2OC, our club is dedicated to the MK3 MR2.
