Replacement stereo

Hello all

I've just brought my first MR2 (last week) "03" love the car how ever the radio doesn't work, have checked the fuses and all seem fine so assume that the stereo unit is kaput, so I'm looking for some idea as to a replacement. I like the idea of the app based connect to iPhone radios However my technical skills aren't the best so would these stereos be a good idea? Anyone using them? Failing that any good easy fit upgrades?

Also like the idea of rear view camera, is this an easy mod?


Also I hear the sound system is not the greatest (cant remember what it was like in the cars I test drove  s:lol: :lol: s:lol:  ) so anybody/companies out there selling complete system upgrades that are easy to fit/ offer a upgrading service? As I say my skills a limited at best.

I also have a rear facing camera.

I live near to cambridge so i dont mind showing you my set up on a sunday?

I had no idea on how to install speakers etc, so i went to a garage to fit everything and they wanted £980 for the sound system + equipment. i ended up paying £460 and installing it myself  s:P s:P

Went well and felt good because of it. Again... it might be worth asking a friend to help you install it - i dont mind helping with the speakers/head unit BUT supplying power to the amp im not terribly confident - means attaching a wire to the battery - im always scared about these things.


Back on topic:

the appradio 2 is a fantastic addition to my car!!!

I run a galaxy s3 through it (even though it says its not supported). I can access all my apps etc.  GPS works well and its great having it on a screen on your dashboard rather than stuck to your screen. I also have an ipod connected! and use the radio (installed aerial switch mod too)

Look, probably best i give you a visit sometime and show you around the build because there is soo much to take in!

The rear facing camera is fantastically clear too! and the members who have seen it installed all like it.

Sound deaden your doors for a bit of extra sound from the stock speakers. Still worth replacing, but without the sound deadening your new speakers would sound pants too! After sound deadening I still just use the stock speakers + an active sub
