Broken O2 sensor symptoms?

How would a car drive with a duff O2 sensor?  Mine is broken but I suspect it has been for a long time (discovered engine light has been bypassed). I think my car uses more fuel than it should, would this be a symptom of it?
2001 Roadster, che manifold, 40mm lowering springs, BMC Carbon intake mounted behind battery.

It sure would indeed. Needs to be remapped to suit no lambdas really like mine
