Hi;

I just bought a Genesis Profile 2 amp (25 mm thick) which I am going to fit when I am back in the UK in a couple of weeks.

Since I have all the tools here, I am going to pre-make all my cable harnesses to ease fitting in the UK.

I have the 8mm2 power and ground cables for the amp and would like to know the length of cable from under the passenger seat to the battery in the engine bay. If someone could let me know this (give or take 6 inches) I would really appreciate it.

I am guessing that one of the seat bolts is M8 and is within 1 foot from the center of the under-seat position as my ground cable is 1 foot long with a 8mm terminal lug ??

many thanx

Minor point but if teh hight is teh same as the profile 4 it won't fit under teh seat, I no I tried.

In short it will fit, but only if yo remove teh seat and reinstall after and only if your not intending moving the seat at all.

Hi Mark;

Thanx for the feedback, it's only 36mm thick, the thinnest amp I've ever seen and have been assured that it will fit, but I guess the only way I will know is when I come to do it !

I'ts the same thickness as the Profile 4, you say you were not able to fit it ?? - was that because of the height or the width / length ??

Cheers

heigth, the springs under the seat are actually lower than the the seat looks from teh outside.

also the floorpan isn't flat underthere.

Just thinking out loud ....

If it doesn't fit under the seat, could you mount it behind the seat (below the luggage bin doors) using super-grippy velcro or something like that?  Would save removing the seats, and would only cost you the last bit of rearward movement on the adjuster?  I'm sure something similar has been done by someone (don't remember who, sorry) with a super-whizzy MP3 player.

A Profile II sits comfortably under the driver's seat (the passenger seat has the cabbling for the little seatbelt indicator) of my MR2.  I was in no doubt that it would fit but my main concerns lied with overheating (due to restricted clearance) but there are no problems whatsoever.

With regards to cable lengths, tt's been a year since I instaled it and I can't quite remember how long they were but I think it's about 5 meters for the power lead and about 3 for the speakers.  Don't take my word for it though...

I haven't used any brackets; tt is stuck to the carpet with industrial strenght velcro (and it's not going anywhere...).  For the power lead, there is a little cable hole in the compartment behind the driver (you will have to remove all the plastics to access it).

Excellent little amp if you prefer quality over SPL (it's not very loud).

Interesting.

that confirms  that some seats are lower than others then.

Using the little wheel on the side of the seat maybe?  s;) ;) s;)

(sorry couldn't help myself)

In all seriousness i did wonder if people's preference on seat height might make a difference to whether or not the amp would fit?

humour aside, good point.

I always looked atthepassenger side, primarily because I have to hve the seat as low as possible to clear the steering wheel.

likely with teh seat adjusted up it would fit.
