Are they any good?  The '2 I got has one on the front but the other (a Dunlop) needs replacing so thought I might get another BFG to match.

Cheers

I've had BF Goodrich tyres on several cars before, and one thing always stood out about them... They're crap...

Do yourself a big favour, go to somewhere like  w www.mytyres.co.uk w  and buy yourself a complete set of new, matching tyres. Toyo T1-S Proxis are very good and astoundingly cheap. It safe to say that your car is not handling anything like as well as it could do due to those mismatched tyres. Very bad indeed...

Upon closer inspection of the car when I got it home, it doesn't look like the car was looked after at all by the last owner  s:( :( s:(   Luckily he only had it a year so maybe not much damage is done.  Look at my other post here -  m http://www.mr2roc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4547 m

Its got Dunlop Sport 2000 on both rears, and a Dunlop Sport 200 with the BFG on the front.  I know a fair bit about tyres but I haven't got any personal experience of BFG's.  I know the rear Dunlops are more suited to higher psi's and 'heavier' cars but they'll do for now.

I got Eagle F1 GSD2's all round on my other car which are the best tyre I've ever used.  But I'd imagine that the '2 would need a stiffer sidewall to compliment the suspension setup.  Do the Toyo's have a stiff sidewall?  What about Yoko Advan Neova's - are they big bucks??

cheers

IMHO, ditch all yours tyres and start again.

Toyo Proxies are yours for approx £160 a set, sidewall integrity is on a par with teh GSd2 F1's, so will need a few more PSI, they do work very well however, and have even survived some serious hammering at Anglesey a few months ago.

Neovas are brilliant, but can't be had in sizes to fit the pre-03 roadster.

DON'T be tempted to use teh same size tyres all round.

What pressure is suitable for the Proxies on the front to compensate for the sidewall?

personally I run 27 on teh front and anywhere between 36-38 on teh back.

to be honest teh fronts aren't that bad, it's the rears you need to stabilise most to prevent teh tyre rolling on teh sidewall as you corner hard.

teh upside of these soft sidewalls is that they are VERY VERY progressive.

I run mine at 27psi.

The major thing to remember with Pnuematic tyres, is that unless you're running forklift tyres, 99% of tyres rigity, and 99% the wieght of the car, is borne by the air that fills them.

The difference in the sidewalls of an OEM bridgestone and a Toyo T1-S?

2 polyester plies in the Bridgestone, only 1 in the Toyo. On both tyres the sidewall can quite easily be bent by hand.
