Air escaping pre-exhaust?

Right, when the car is sat at idle and i rev it (only time i can hear as its normally too loud with wind etc) there seems to be a FFFFFFFTTTTT noise coming about 1 second b4 the exhuast note changes - its only when i press the throttle and is before the air seems to either get to or exit the exhust.

Any1 got any ideas?

Also after a hard drive there seems to be popping coming from the exhaust, could this be abything to do with it?

Are you sure its not the air going through the throttle body?

Depends what sort of noise, I believe all MR2's make the noise your referring to, mine certainly does and others that I have heard revving with the OEM box make the same noise. Mine was more pronounced after I had the filter element in.  As you know the airbox feeds air from the side of the car, i've speculated in the past that it's just air resonating in this tube, or air passing through the throttle body.  

Might be worth listening while someone revs your car

If it's a wheezing noise then it might be worth checking..

If its the intake its only just started to do it - the car seems breathless at about 5K revs and as i say its popping lots!

Will check the oil this evening!!
