I have a J-spec MR-S and was after some idea if a certain number of aftermarket options could be fitted by Mr.T.

I put my car in for a service yesterday, and thought while Im at it, I may as well get an idea of a quote to have central locking and electric windows installed (as J-Spec B-edition MR-S have nethier!)

I've phoned Mr.T 3 times before taking it for the service for any idea if these could be fitted, and each time they promised <YAWN> they'd get back to me...

After being given the runaround after collecting my car yesterday, I found

1)I couldn't have an ECU report as they had to send the fault codes off to the land of the rising sun. Is this correct, aren't they universal?

2)Furthermore they couldn't give me a quote about the cental locking as "Mark" in their parts dept would have to get in contact with Japan to see if their parts could be ordered for such a thing.

Somewhat hopeful after ringing "Mark" the next day, he said he never said this because the central locking is linked to the cars computer and would be impossible to do here and the car would have to be sent to Japan to be fitted as a aftermarket option as (as I already know) all UK MR2s come with these things as standard.

Is this true would it not be able to be fitted? If not, does anyone know of any other (around London) garages that might be able to fit it?

Thanks for everybodys time

That is about normal for most garages!

what they're refering to is that their computer cant read the codes as in the UK the standard is ODBII, they use something different over in japan.(kinda like the same thing as PAL/NTSC on your TV)
i would say everthing you've been told is true.
