My Right hand speaker is dead! The tweeter is fine but not the main speaker. I took off the  door panel and the connections look fine as do the connections at the back of the original stereo. Fuses also appear ok - any idea son what the problem could be?  Many thanks!

Apart from the obvious that their rubbish  s:lol:  s:lol:
Could be a break in the wire, maybe where it passes through the door to the car, try another speaker or the one from the other door to check its not the actual speaker?

A good opportunity to upgrade and sound proof the doors, a worthy upgrade and you don't have to spend a bomb.

Agree, the speakers and main unit aren't great but thay have worked fine until now. Have considered the link to the door but as the tweeter works I thought that this was ok. Is there anything on the back of the speaker that may have failed. I didn't want to remove it until I was sure what the problem was. However, I will take your advice and test another speaker and will also consider an upgrade of the whole system. A good job to do during the long Swedish winter;)

All sorted now thanks to this forum. New speakers working a treat! Door panels can be a bit of  a pain to get back on though!

Did you take the opportunity to sound deaden the doors? You won't believe the difference it makes, you just need a roll of Wickes Roof Flashing tape (other makes are available)

I'm going to sound -proof the doors too, yes, a winter job I think! How thick is the Wickes stuff? Have been looking for something here in Sweden but am a litte uncertain about what to get. (Cellpolythen?) Also not sure how much to put in. Have see your pics of the inside of the  door panel but I guess it's the metal one needs to cover? Cover as much as one can perhaps - 75% of the inside of the door?  Thanks for all your advice  s:) :) s:)

I guess the stuff is about 2mm thick, it's just a far cheaper option that the professional dinomat acoustic stuff. About £12 a roll for 150mm x 10m. You may be able to get something similar over there? It's used to weather seal between roof tiles and wall/chimney, has a tacky tar like backing to it. It was enough to line as much of the inside of the door skin as I could reach and enough left over to do the back of the door card.
If you manage to get some and you plan to do it in the winter, use a hair dryer to warm it up to help the tacky backing stick.
