Focal speakers

Hi guys, just a update, fitted a new double din alpine head unit, Bluetooth all the bits and bobs, worked ok stock speakers were actually not bad, but was getting distortion from heavy bass tunes, so fitted some Focals , door cards came of easy no problems, help from here, used the old speaker bracket by cutting away the cone inside, however when put back together the bottom door card would not close, and was causing distortion, so back of again, speakers out and took the mdf ring that was stuck on the plastic bracket, I then used double sided window strip tape, and fitted it around the plastic bracket. It stuck well to the bracket and stuck to the speaker, screwed speaker back on all back in place and what can I say. Wow wow wow, they sound great.
It obviously depends what music your playing but they love R n B dance music and they love rock. Just now creating playlists to use while out driving, I use a wire to connect the I phone, the Bluetooth works great but you just a little better quality with the cable.

If you want more bass for relative free and better SQ,  sound deaden your doors with Wickes or B&Q flashing tape.

personally i would reccomend making your own mdf rings to mount the speakers on (get a better seal/stick)!

but i have focal speakers and they are increadible.  s:P s:P

Autoleads SAK-2912 are also an option if you don't fancy getting the jigsaw out, or butchering your old speakers.

How do you apply the tape? Is it easy?

Yeah it was about1/3 inch in width, and it was sticky both sides, so I started to place it around the bracket and snipped it slightly on the edge so I could do a circle with it. Then just peeled of the top and it left a sticky base to put the speaker on a a few screws. Simples

Do you guys amp your front speakers?

I didn't bother, there's enough poweR in the new head unit I think for the front speakers, I have the option of adding a amp and sub in the cubbys behind the seat, but to be honest, I'm 41 and I think it's loud enough for me ha ha
