Roof Rack ?

New that would get you interested, roof rack "whats he on about"

Just looking for some sort of rack to put onto the back to fit a surf board. Any1 now of anything.

You can get the genuine Toyota one, that allows you to carry bicycles, skis, surfboard...

Or the Classis Carriers one could be used as well I guess...

keep an eye out on ebay though as they do occasionally come around, i got mine from there, expect to pay £150ish although you can get some super deals, i got mine for £70! for the classic carrier that is

i have been trying to work out how to take my 8'4" board with no real joy

try searching on spyderchat, there are a couple of posts there - depends on the size of the board but classic carrier seems to work for the guys in the US, differnece is though doesnt rainas much in california as it does in cornwall! s:roll: :roll: s:roll:

i have a couple of pms from the guy in the us which i can look up for you if you want

I thought about this too (windsurf board rather than surf, but anyway) - but can you imagine what it would do to the car though - it would be like strapping an 2.5m long, 40cm wide airbrake to the car! (or in my case, 3.3m long, 50cm wide)

It was bad enough carrying the board flat on a normal roofrack, but angled up like that it would at best be an airbrake, at worst rip it/the carrier/the boot lid off s:? :? s:?

I would mount it sideways s;)

s;) So there would be like 2cm wide surface facing the wind...(I have no idea how thick those are)...

I think you flip the classic carrier around so it points upwards as well when you carry skis and boards with it. Not sure I would want to try without the extra support that extends forwards and rests on the hardtop though, and driving with the hardtop probably sucks when you are off surfing as opposed to skiing...

My board is 7foot 6, i can get it into my m8s new mini no problem. I dont want to buy a rack then find as i go down the road it blows off. As the board is so big.

FWIW, I just transported a package that was about 250x50x20cm...just removed the passenger seat and had no issues with it. Didn't go above 60mph, but it was just fine at that speed, the wind didn't really catch it at all (I had the side window up).

If you're alone and it's sunny, I'm sure that would work for a 250x40cm board as well s;)
