Hi folks Justina again I had to replace the ecu in my car not to worry long story! Anyway the keys that go with that Ecu weren't available is there a way to disable it or to get a  key from the ECU unit or engine.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Thanks lots of love Justine

If it's a second hand ECU, the official line is the old keys cannot be removed, but up-to 2 additionals can be added (this assumes the previous owner didnt lose any of their keys)

Un-officialy, there is reference in the BGB (Toyota servicing bible) to resetting the key memory in order to add new keys. This (IIRC) involves Toyota Japan providing an unlock code which is generated from the system's serial number. This can only be carried out by a Toyota dealer, but I haven't found one willing to carry out this procedure.

When I can speak to mph I will get him to dig out the appropriate section from his SMT specific BGB (the relevant section doesn't appear to be in the manual BGB although the ECU's are the same (diff S/W))
