Got mine in Xmas week but weather and time been against me... Got the number plate ones changed, they were easiest... Did the front side lights, or parking lights, yesterday.... My god! What a pita that was! You needs hands the size of a 5 year old! Got it done though.. Normally after 5 mins I'd be beating it with a branch a la basil Fawlty but I remained calm and stuck with it...

i put mine in yesterday and the difference and look of them is outstanding! such a cheap mod, i got 10 led bulbs for £4 delivered from amazon! like damo66 said, the sidelights are a killer on the hands, you need Jeremy Beadles left or is it right, hand to get to them. i had to take the headlights out to do it, but no biggy, just a 5 min job. and the number plate lights were a doddle! Some pics: (first one is the number plate light, the top bulb is the standard and the bottom bulb is the led)

Those sidelight bulbs look as if they give a nice modern look. Are they far more white than the previous yellow?
Ezekiel 23:20 "There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses"

I bought a "Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine" to lose weight. I put on five stone. I blame the delicious gravy it makes.

Guys. I really like the led headlights. Sorry to be a pain but which are they? I read the thread and got lost trying to figure out what the code is and if they just easily replace the current ones.
Also, are they legal?
Apologies for my numptyness!

I did try some LED headlights and in the MR2 they were really not very good compared to filament bulbs, they were just far too dim. The strange thing is that they are great in my daily driver as the full beam lights and more closely match the HID dipped headlights.

I think that most of the discussion in this thread was about side/brake/reversing/indicator/interior/number plate lights where LED units of sufficient quality are as good as and sometimes better than the original filament lamps.

Legality wise, please do your own research. There are markings on automotive lamps that show approval to a country's testing standard. The standards are there to try to ensure that performance and safety is correct. You are likely to draw attention to your car if the lights are the wrong colour, too dim or indeed too bright and external lights are checked as part of the MOT testing.

A good first choice is to change the interior light, the rest is up to you and has to be your choice. I feel that the changes that I have made to the lights on my MR2 have improved safety and retained colour, quality and performance. For example, the indicators and the rear brake lights including the high level brake light now illuminate to full brightness faster than filament lamps. You can search YouTube for videos that demonstrate this effect, one particularly good video is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKqQpy4FHp8 where the guy shows poor quality LEDs in comparison to the filament bulb and then a good quality unit. If you watch the slow motion part around 3mins 10secs into the video you will see how fast the LED illuminates in comparison to the filament bulb (which has to heat up to produce enough light). In the case of brake lights, that fraction of a second could make the difference between a hit and a miss for the car behind.

Hi, I will be honest (I know I'm not the brightest bulb-appropriate pun in this thread..) Could someone help a simple soul out. Which bulbs do you need? I have seen the codes for the originals on the car but not any codes for replacements. Also where is good to get them from. There are plenty of guys and girls who have done this (successfully and legally) I just need guidance. I am not technically minded in the slightest, but love my 2 and would love to try these LEDs. I can supply beer as payment at one of the meets I hope to go to next year!

The bulb codes as best that I know are at http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=47742&p=553382&hilit=w5w#p553382. Two posts down from that you can see some detail of the units that I used as replacements.
