Hi there, thought I'd just say a quick hello to you all. I just joined up, I pick up my MR2 Roadster on Saturday from Octagon in Reading. It's the 2nd I will have owned.

I had a silver W reg Roadster just 6 months back, but traded it in for a sensible (read boring) family car when my wife brought our first child into the world. Well, I lasted 6 months... I've had enough of being sensible, so the wife has my car, and I have another MR2!  s:) :) s:)

Looking forward to being a 2 owner again, after 6 months out you should have seen the grin on my face after I took my new 2 out for a test drive...

Welcome to the club mate.

I know the feeling, we have a Celica now, but after we move we may consider getting another 2 again....although will probably wait till next year now and get a nice turbo one.

NO THERE ISNT

TTE are developing a turbo kit, but that doesnt currently have a release date or price. All the details are dotted around on the forum - as Kris says, try the SEARCH button.

Well, a turbo kit should be a lot of fun, but I expect the insurance will be too!

On that note, on my previous 2 I was insured with Zurich (Once Eagle Star Direct). Was always a good quote. Last weekend I called them back up, assuming that there would be no problem in being back in a 2. Quite the opposite. The quote was horrendous, and I then discovered that they wouldn't even insure me because I have no driveway or garage for the car. This was never the case before, having been bought by Zurich the conditions have all changed, I just wonder how many people out there don't realise yet... and effectively have void insurance...!

In the end I got a great quote from Frizzel Insurance, and another very comparable one from Citroen Insurance too. Worth checking out if you're having problems with Zurich.

I'm with Zurich.  Never had any problems before, not had any since.  I've never stated that the car is garaged/drivewayed, and never seen anything in the conditions to say it must be.

My quote was pretty reasonable (circa 800quid for 26 with 1year NCB).

Since then I've moved house, and they're still happy enough (dropped the quote by 180quid).  I've not mentioned the garage, but that's where the car is now kept overnight.

I had hte same problem with eagle star/Zurich. When I went through the phone, they wanted £1200 to insure me (24 years old), I applied online though the eaglestar homepge, they insured me for almost half, with the same conditions. Go figure!

Sure is the case... if you ever doubt that you love driving, try driving a family saloon for a couple of months. Anyone here got my old 2?
