Best place to fit cold air intake?

I assume where the standard air filter is located in the engine isn't the best place to fit a cold air intake system, so where would be the best place to put it?

Two good options are either deep behind the arch (like the AEM) or behind the battery (like the PPE).

Depends on your type of system as well.

Ah right they're the two options I've seen in most photos. I'd like to improve performance a little with my car, not too much work, and considered the air filter but then a friend pointed out if I stuck it where the current one is then it'd just be sucking in warm air.

If you're not planning on mapping the car you'd probably get as much gain from a replacement panel filter in the stock airbox as you will an induction kit (especially if you go for a cheaper one). You will get a bit more noise from a CAI though.
