Patrick's been a busy boy, receiving a big delivery of only genuine Toyota parts (after my recent issues!) and has the replacement bottom end built up with new parts;

- Big end bearings
- Main bearings
- Piston rings
- Oil pump

The bottom end is now ready for the head, which is being machined and built up this week.

In the end it was decided the head was such a mess that a replacement was sourced; it just goes to show how bad the engine was; we haven't used any of it!

Once finished, the head can be fitted to the bottom end with new head gasket, new head bolts (Genuine Toyota of course), and all the ancillary parts can be fitted.

well that looks like something in my garage  s:) :) s:)  If you can order your head to be skimmed by 0,45mm, it will bump the cr to 12.0:1

Nice to see some progress.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Good to see this moving forward. Was the head messed up by the bottom end failure or just not in good condition generally?
Ex 2GR-FE roadster. Sold it. Idiot.  Now Jaguar F-Type P450 75 Edition RWD. Officially over by the bins.

It was in poor condition. It has been rubbed down with what looked like 80 grit paper and had some scoring in the top cam bearing surface. So it was decided not to risk using it at all

Really glad to see that you've being able to get sorted so soon having read about the terrible luck you had with the last engine. The new engine is looking really good I'm sure many at the stage you were at would have called it a day.

After you've ran the engine in and your faith in the car is restored it will all be worthwhile when you have the chance crank up the revs, hear the lift kick in and roar down the road   s:D :D s:D

Yeah it will need running in properly for a while. Track days are certainly out the question for that reason, and because I literally have no spare money for the rest of the year....at least!

Nothing is that fast, especially with his Mrs away and no GOT to watch on sky.

Could have had a nose wed as was supposed to be picking up your old engine off patrick, but got half way and my 2011 Astra SRi 2.0TDCi decided it didn't like the engine being able to turn and thought it would prefer to lock up..  I suspect I have also snapped a rod  s:( :( s:(   must be the south coast triangle... danger do not enter! lol.. in a not lol kinda way.

Good to see some really good progress at least you know this is going to be right this time. I have been looking at the Cosworth ceramic inlet manifold gasket I have been told it does give you a bit more bhp by andy N20 but I don't have any proof of the gain. It comes in about £50 but its suppost to lower the heat transfer to the inlet manifold. Have a read up about it as you've sent so much on it now whats another £50 betwwen friends

I think we can blame mark for all our woes.
My turbo went to pieces not long after meeting him for a drive.

Haha!

It has been said before; if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

Tbh I've got bored of blaming tom and it can't possibly be my fault.
