Guys

Im planning to change my front speakers sometime in the near future..

As I'm bound to break something could anyone tell me if the clips holding the door card in place are the fir tree or the  plastic "spring" type? And I'll get some spares!

Also I'm assuming this is the adapter I'll need?

I upgraded mine about 2 years ago and I can't remember exactly what held the door cards but they were easy to remove, there is a guide at http://www.spydermagazine.com/2000/Sept/doorpanel/doorpanels.htm. I do remember that I wasted money on adapters that were not the right size and ended up gutting the existing speakers and using the frames from them to fix the new speakers with a few long self tapping screws. I believe that others have taken this approach.

The trickiest part is removing the door handle frame.

Most trim you prise apart from the outside. The door handle frame you kinda do from the inside.

Hard to explain. Get your screwdriver in between the lock toggle & it's frame, push the screw driver handle down so you lever the frame up & over the lock toggle. Hope that makes sense.

Once you have the other 3 screws off you just pull the bottom & sides of the door card out from the door & lift it off the top.

Sorry to hijack your thread but I'd also be interested to know if the adapters are suitable as this one of many jobs on my to do list too!   s:) :) s:)

No they are wrong (130mm is too small).
Just use the old speakers as the mount, there are tons of How to guides on here explaining how...
