I installed a new Basslink X this weekend. Its VERY VERY cool, I didnt know when I bought it, but it has 2 10" subs built into it (i thought it was just the 1), plus a remote controll for the bass, which I have fitted under the head unit, so I can lower/turn off the bass at the front, without fiddling with the headunit

One problem, my stupid jap headunit didnt have a remote lead to power on the Basslinks amp. What I have done to get around it is to bridge the PWR and remote, and put a switch inbetween so I can turn it off when the car is not being used, a bit of a pain in the bum, but it works as a temp fix.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get it to turn off and on on its own, i'm thinking if I can find the ignition lead that goes into the block connector to the headunit and run that as a remote, it would do the trick, but im not sure which one it is.

Any ideas?

How about using the fag lighter? I'm pretty sure they only work on most cars when the ignition is on...

Presumably the Roadster has a fag lighter - I can't remember since I test drove one over a month ago!

Sorry I took so long to reply.

Yes its just in the rear bins, it would fit with its normal mountings, So i had to not use them, and mount it using a bungee... and it doesnt budge

as per:  m http://homepage.ntlworld.com/my_mr2/basslink.jpg m

The sound is fine, when its very VERY loud, there is a little rasping from the door, but I never have it THAT high, nothing a bit of dynamat wouldnt fix  s;) ;) s;)

you can put the top 2 brackets on once the unit is in.it gives it a bit more stability when u close the door and stops the unit moving about.

hi

might need some help from you guys here. i have just bought
one of these and found out that the door doesn't close with the
plastic bits in (same as the pic shown).
The only way i got it fitted was to take the plastic surroundings off
which doesn't look too good.
any one use a different way of fitting this nicely?

thanks

mine still moves about a little bit, especially when the top is up as its not pressing down on the sub. sometimes makes the locker door vibrate   s:x :x s:x

i actually put the bottom leg on and put it in so it stand up, since there is a bolt going upward, which took some space.

does fitting the gray legs on the top helps? there is nothing to lean against
with and there is a flap going downwards which might damage.

i had the plastic bits removed and it seems to have a little rattle when
i drive abit faster.

anyone had other feedbacks?

you have to take out the side plastic piece for it to sit better.also fit it with the roof up and use the 2 canvas straps to secure it in and stop it moving about. cant get any pics at the mo but if u wanna post some i might be able to see where it not sitting properly.

Cheers John, removing the plastic bit made it fit in nice, will attach it, and wire it soon.

no probs.you can put the plastic back in as long as u dont mind cutting it to accomodate the corner of the unit.
hope u like the extra noise.  s:lol:  s:lol:

Whole car vibrates when the roof is up tho, will work on that bit next.

buy some window weather seal from b&q or wilkinsons (the stuff that keeps out drafts) and line the edges of the storage bins where the doors rest and that will sort out the storage bin door vibration.

Tempted to get one of these....can someone post pics if possible ?

Also...are the rear bins the best place to put them?

I am gueesing they are the only place to put it.

As you said, not the best place but the only place.
Good idea about the window seal will give that a go, cheers
