Hello all!

So I was walking down a road in Jaipur today (currently backpacking india) and seen some generic car styling shops..quite funny authentic Indian car tuning items. One shop seemed to have quite a lot of ICE so I thought I would pop in to look at some double din units (mainly as I'd been reading up on them today)..

I was surprised to find Pioneer has what seems to be its own range specific to the Indian market. I seen a double din unit which seemed surprisingly similar to the Pioneer avh8400bt, it is the AVH-X2690bt. It seems very similarly spec'd as far as I can see (unless I'm missing something obvious ....but biggest difference and sometimes the most important difference in the price, it's coming in at16000ruppees - just under £160! (And that's before bartering lol).

Anyone have an experience with head units from different regions? Should still work in a uk spec car right..?
Am I missing something obvious and are these two units actually vastly difference?
And finally, does anyone know the power outputs ("MOSFET/rms"?) of the oem 2004 toyota mashishushushuti (spelling) unit...it really is a ghost unit. Can't find anything on it although I'm sure I have an owner manual for it back home...

Cheers,

An email to Pioneer should clear it up.

Our Adidas tracksuits lasted ages in Cyprus, as did a mates Rolex, until he sent it for repair.

You need to be careful.
Ex.MR2 SMT sadly missed.

Yeah...very true.
There's always that lure of "too good to be true"/ usually is.

Anyway, reading over a few more times I've noticed some difference, screen is slightly smaller, less format comparability, no high voltage output...

Dammit, I thought I was on to something!

Think I just got excited wanting to start my first thread   s:flame: :flame: s:flame:

Will send pioneer an email and post my findings.

Also radio frequencies might be different, I know someone who bought one back from the states and couldn't get many stations as the frequency was slightly different
