Neons!

Crikey its slow on here today, nobodies got anything to say, so here goes:

Right, we all hate neons, and I agree, maybe on the right show car, but not on a MR2, but (and i know it's been discussed before briefly), what about footwell neons.

I reckon the interior light is rubbish in the '2.  I can never see the keyhole to start the car and so on.

So what about some subtle lighting from underneath the footwells to illuminate the car, they should come on at the same time as the interior light and turn off automatically.  And be enough to just flood the car with light.  maybe white, possibly a matching colour - don't know.

Sounds a bit poo to me  s;) ;) s;)

I seem to remember talk on here about changing the smoked plastic interior light cover to clear to increase light output?

Just get a large maglite, then you can club people with it who annoy you  s;) ;) s;)

for the interior your best bet is cold cathode lighting, half the price and twice as bright. mind you saying that i have three sets of neons under my 'two' which is surprising seeing that we all hate them   s:wink:  s:wink:    s:D :D s:D

I was expecting a bit of a flame for even saying the word neon.

For show cars I reckon they're the bees, but on stock they're overkill, or can be.

Well thats fair enough, you cant get much more 'show' than mine I suppose

ie chrome mirrors, chrome wheels, chrome head light trims, chrome roll bar, chrome washer jets (leds disconnected!)

seriosly tho, cold cathode computer lighting is great for the interior, smaller, cheaper and brighter.  I have 12 cold cathode tubes/lights ready to go in, but other matters always seem more pressing.

on the celica I managed to wire them into the interior light circuit so that they then went off with the interior light a few sec after you had locked the mota   s:wink:  s:wink:

Ah, the cars totally rad. - Certainly had a lot of stuff on it!

If I was to put lights in the foot wells they'd have to come on with the interior light.  I wouldn't want anything plugged into the cig lighter, so I guess that means splicing the wire looms.  Hmm, maybe that's a project for the long nights in the quickly approaching winter.

I think Toyota have an "official" footwell lighting system fitted to some to some J-spec cars. Adam had it fitted to one of his many '2's IIRC.

I now have these fitted to the GT300.  Two small encased bulbs that are mounted in each foowell and connect to the wiring loom on the drivers side.

Kerries has the Black lights.  I love shiny white shoe laces

Back to Perry again... are you getting the chrome windscreen garnish? It would 'go' very well on your car.
