Morning guys.

After seeing a friends landrover who had an iPad mini mounted on his dash for gps & media usage I thought I would look at something similar for the '2' it fits perfectly in the top of dash flappy storage locker in fact surprisingly securely just using the lid to hold it in place!

I wondered if anyone had done anything similar and if so what the results were like?

I put my nexus 7 in there all the time, either for navigation or using the Torque app on Android connected to a Bluetooth odb2 reader.
One of *them* cars....
[strike]C-one front end & side skirts, TTE spoiler, TTE rear bumper inserts,  Anthracite post-FL wheels on Toyo T1R. 6-speed box. Cobra Quad exhaust. Red leather. Lowered. TTE style bar.  And lots of shinny ....[/strike]

I have a 2 and a Nexus 7,  what Bluetooth obd2 reader do you use please?
I guess you have power connection from USB into the cigarette lighter socket or have you some other ruse?

I would like to try and construct some kind of mount with hidden cabling so as you give it a more factory look...

You could make it out of fibreglass pretty easily.  Just cover the back of the ipad in clingfilm and then layer over the fibreglass + resin.  Nearly did it myself but as it did sit so snugly up there I just left it where it was.  It would be very cool if it retracted when shut, although there isn't much room to manoeuvre.
