Hi

First post as new owner of a TF300 since monday, quite a change from a Audi A8 4.2 TDI but for the better really love the car.

I am looking to change the standard head unit to the above pioneer double  din with sat nav and blue tooth (have iPhone 5s).

Any one no of this unit as cannot find any reviews. It looks like fitting is not going to be too complex from what i have read on the forum but let me know if i am being stupid.

Kind Regards

Hi
First off you going to miss all of that V8 TDI torque, always fancied an A8.

I have always been a fan of pioneer kit, currently have a pioneer mvh-350bt £75 from Halfrauds.
It is a single din and although i have never fitted a head unit before found it very easy.
Does your phone not do sat nav? I have found with bluetooth enabled it's no different to a built in unit.
Each to there own and all that but mega bucks on a stereo in a soft top sports car seems a bit wasteful.
Will you be upgrading the speakers as well?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I have a cheap double din with sat nav and reversing camera. The fitting was straightforward once you have worked out how the trim comes off and it took a bit of googling to find out how to do that but once you have done it once its fine. On the "legs" on either side of the unit, just pull the bottom of the plastic covers out to the side to release them to show the first screws. You could try taking out the current unit just to see how easy it is to do before you buy your replacement.

One thing I have found though is that in bright sunlight you cant see the screen for either the camera or the sat nav so have to try to shade it with your hand to see which is not ideal!

Having got one I am not sure if I would recommend one to be honest (but would not recommend a cheap one like mine) but they do look neat. If I was doing it again I would probably look into having something in the top cubbyhole where you could have them a bit more shaded (plus your eyes are nearer to the road rather than looking down at the stereo for your sat nav. A lot more work but can be neat and you can get much cheaper single din units and a celica cubbyhole to fill the gap.

You wont regret your purchase, welcome to the club!
I fitted a pioneer unit earlier this year to my TF. Here's the post which has useful links and pics to head units that owners have fitted and fitting kits available online.
Don't know if the same kits would fit the unit you're looking at or not.
Loadsa good advice on the thread though
