What have I done wrong this time?

I was messing about with my instrument dial earlier (replacing bulbs with led's for a bit of variety in the colour).
When I put everything back together, it all seems fine except that the fuel light was on and the gauge read empty.
I know for a fact that there is about half a tank in there   s:? :? s:?
Is there a fuse I have blown? Or is there a fourth connector that I pulled off without seeing it?

Thanks, as usual for advice/comments   s:D :D s:D

No, it was just a question of replacing the bulbs. I didn't open the front of the dials.

First simple step could be just checking the connections again. Only 3 if I remember correctly.

Well, stripped it all back out, put it all back together, and I have a fuel gauge  s:D :D s:D

Prolly just a loose connection then. Just out of interest, when you disconnected the plugs, did you always hold & pull the connector or did you pull on the wires?
Loads of people pull on the wires, which will obviously effect the terminals inside.

As fiddly as it was, I just wiggled the connectors out. I used to be an electrician, so I'm always careful with that sort of thing.

Haha, yeah except I'll be doing it again next week!
I like the look the led's give, but these ones aren't bright enough so I've ordered some more!!  s:D :D s:D

Interesting to see if you post up again on it then. Hopefully it'll just be some pictures of the new look.  s;-) ;-) s;-)

Hmmm, bought some of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400714630339?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, utterly useless!! Didn't even show as a glow on the dials    s:( :( s:(
So, I thought I'd try these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261275323396?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, got a light glow, but not enough to see by   s:| :| s:|
Now I've ordered some of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111385901845?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, see how I get on with them.
Basically, I just want to change the colour a bit, as I don't like orange but I can't justify spending £100 on a new set!! The small glow I can see is a pleasant green shade, I was originally hoping for blue but I assume the back of the dials has a yellow film on it.
I think the problem with the LED's is that they sit too far into the back of the dials, so the light has nowhere to go??
As a by the by, where is the actual mileage stored? Is it in the CPU, or the display? I managed to damage a couple of solder tracks in the back, so I may be needing a new display soon   s:scared: :scared: s:scared:

Mileage is stored in the actual dial display.

Okay, well today just got weird/very very annoying!!
Took the led's back out (everything was working fine, including the dimmer dial). Put in the blue bulbs, nothing else done.
But now, the High beam warning works, the indicator warnings work, the central console lights work. However, the instrument lights don't work and nor does the driver's door light switch (the passenger door does work).
I've changed the fuses, 'gauges' and 'dials' ones in the door pillar. I even changed the 'door' fuse, just in case. No change.
When I supply power to the board the lights work fine, so I can only assume it's something to do with the supply?
Any clues/ideas where to look next? My first thought (in the morning) will be to short across the dimmer and see if it's that.

Quick update:
Door light and warning buzzer both work. Central console and hazard warning light work. High beam and indicators work.
No dial lights  s:( :( s:(
Does anyone know which pin(s)/plug power the dial lights? I want to try to find out if it's the supply or the pcb. Checked every single fuse in the car, all fine. No bulbs blown, and if I power across one of the bulb holders the dial lights all work fine  s:?: :?: s:?:

Well, I think it's just going to be one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-MR2-ROADSTER-MK3-PLASMA-GLOW-WHITE-DIAL-KIT-SPEEDO-DASH-LIGHTING-UPGRADE-/291258787712?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43d0606780.

I don't think I have the patience/flexibility to keep trying to chase the fault. Plus, the whole point was to change appearance of the dials in the first place   s:lol:  s:lol:

None of them are bright enough

I think they lose a lot of light because of the way the instrument panel is designed. The light has to go through a little clear piece at the back of the dial, and I think the led's sit too far forwards. Fed up playing with it now, so I'm just going to stick one of the plasma glow kits on the front. The one I looked at includes the heater dials   s:bounce: :bounce: s:bounce:  , but I'm going to have to wait until next week or so   s:( :( s:(   Got to be a good boy this week, all the bills are due  s:scared: :scared: s:scared:
