Hey guys,

Right i have decided to take my Basslink out of my bedroom and put it back in the car now i no longer need the storage bin space.

Now here is the HPF query. My headunit has 3 pre-outs, (front, rear and Sub). I am using "front" for the amp for my components and am using the H/u's built in HPF @ 100Hz.

Now i am installing the Basslink and it has 2 pairs of RCA inputs and obv i don't want to be running an HPF on a sub.

1. Is there such a thing as an "RCA Splitter"?

2. If not would it be best to run the sub from the "Rear AND Sub" outputs with the headunits HPF turned off and using the HPF on my AMP?

3. Can i splice the existing "remote cable" which goes to the comp's amp?

QuoteThe reason the Basslink has two RCA inputs is that it has TWO 10" subs in it.....i THINK you are meant to use both?

Is that right - are you meant to connect both?

James.

Yes.

You mean the wire that turns amps on with the HU? Sure you can, but don't drain more current than the output allows, those things don't usually have a fuse in them...
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

IIRC subs with 2 phono inputs (well on home cinema subs any way!   s:roll:  s:roll:  ) do not necessarily need both inputs connected. However there may be an improvement in sound by doing so.

Whether they need to be both connected is quite sub specific. My REL home cinema sub has two phono inputs, but one is at +12dB - for low level inputs.

Answer to question 1 = yes! See here!

I think just using the sub output from your headunit will be fine - I would be surprised if the HPF affected that too.

Question 3 = I must say, I don't know for certain about splicing the remote cable to use for your amp and sub - it might work! Failing that you could take a wire of the back of the cigarette lighter to use as a switching signal - although whatever it is connected to will be on when the ignition is switched on, not just when the headunit is on.

Cheers for the replies guys.

IIRC the 2 connections on the basslink are to create "surround sound" think one is for the rear speakers and the other for the front......

That leads me to believe that each sub rruns from a seperate input, does that make sense?

Cheers for the link btw will go to local ICE shop over w/e if halfrauds don't ahve anything (Might try local curry's/comet as well!!)
