I have a ratlle from my engine bay at certain revs. I have had it before and the garage said it was a broken weld on the CAT heatshield and replaced the shield. Now its back, I have a looked for the problem but cant see anything. i know others have had this issue, can anyone tell me what i should be looking for?

Thanks

Richard.

I get that rattling noise too! On my car it originates from the stainless steel shield around the main cat. I had the whole thing out (to check the state of my main cat after a pre-cat failure) and it's appeared ever since.

Tried everything, tightning it all up like mad, but the damn thing will still produce that most embarassing tin rattling noise at specific rpm's    s:x :x s:x

You'll need a set of axle stands and an angle grinder. The rattle comes from the forward shield on the main cat, adjacent to the flexi-joints. You can remove 2 of the bolts, but the one at the front that goes betwwen the 2 downpipes is welded in, you need to get medieval on it with a grinder and rip it out. Show no mercy, and enjoy rattle free driving for ever more. You may struggle to find it when cold, mine wouldnt rattle till it had warmed up a little, and then it was the most annoying noise I've ever heard.
