Hi

Im new to the Forum and drive an 03 MR-S in silver.

Yesterday, a "woman" driver banged into me whilst at a roundabout (I was actually stationary!!).

After taking the car to an approved repairer, they have informed me I need a new passenger door - will be this be difficult to source bearing in mind the car is an import?

Also, does anyone have any idea where I can get replacement interior storage space doors - mine had been removed before I purchased it.

Thanks in advance.

The door will be exactly the same as that sold by your local Toyota dealer... (at a price of course) There are actually very few differences between the cars in different markets, in fact the only structural differences I can think of are that the US market has different front wings and bumper, on account of the fitment of Daytime Running Lamps.

The interor storage doors are hideously expensive from Toyota, over £100 each, but search around a few breakers for a better deal.

THanks for that.

I've only had the car for week and a half and its one of the love's pf my llife at the moment.

Absolutely gutted about the prang but insurers have been really good.

Just glad she missed my Speedline 17" alloys!!

Can you fit any old MR2/MR-S hard top to an MR-S that hasn't previously had one?

You need a fitting kit £250 from the big T, but then any old hard top yes.

Don't worry about your car, it'll come back as good as new, i made i right mess of mine (my own fault), it came back perfect.

I have a MR-S Jap import. Just sprayed and fitted a hard top I brought the other week!

The only problems you'll find in having a import, is that if you get Mr.T to service your car, you wont be able to get OBD II fault read out, as the connections of the equipment are different.

Also when you flash people you'll squirt water on your screen instead for quite sometime. I still do....  s:D :D s:D

I've had jap imports for 6 years now - UK dealers originally refused to touch them. However, policy changed a couple of years ago because of the sheer volume of Eunos's, Pajeros, FTO's, MR2s etc in the country - and the dosh to be made servicing them. You shouldn't have a problem.

As for the storage bins - there was recently an MR2R being broken in the West Midlands (advertised on EBay as "ALL PARTS AVAILABLE FROM A NUT TO A BODYSHELL"). Interested MR2ROC members can contact me and I'll root out the contact details.

Finally, Silver is a tough colour to match. You might want to get the paint shop to "blow in" some lacquer to your front and rear panels to blend the new door. This will reduce the impact of any slight mismatch between old and new paint. Looking at the finished product under street lighting should tell you how good the match is.
