http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=381245120593 . Has anyone got the jdmhondaparts exhaust manifold off eBay? It's listed as toyota mr2 spyder manifold . Looks different to the toyosport one. Looks like it has brackets on it for heat shields? People mention on here that the toyosport doesn't have any engine brackets? Does this ? Or are there any aftermarket ones that do?

mrzwei

That's the same type that most people buy, it's got all the brackets. You usually have to be a bit creative when you fit it because not everything may line up first time, especially the heat shields so just leave them off.
Ex.MR2 SMT sadly missed.
Saab 9-5 Turbo, Hirsch stage 1, Sports suspension and anti roll bars, uprated disks, sports intake and filter and various other bits. 210bhp, 320Nm.
Talbot Express campervan with carb, distributor, coil and no cat! SOLD

Yeah I've got that one. Only one I could find with the lower mounting brackets on.

Does include the mounts for the heat shields but haven't put them on so can't comment on their fit.

I just plan to wrap it so should be ok.

Don't think it was the manifolds fault, but I've just lost had one of the bolts that goes from the manifold to the cat come out by itself. Hoping that was just my fault, or because I'm missing a mount on my back box causing a vibration.

Had two from them first one was about 4 years old when I broke it  ( to heavy handed undoing the heat shield and cracked it   s:scared: :scared: s:scared:  )
second one been on for about the same now and not had any problems although with this one I sprayed with silver exhaust paint before fitting
oh and as per all good advise on here throw the gasket and but an OEM one from a supplier   s:D :D s:D
54 Sable, Air con, hardtop

Ok thanks for the advice i will get proper gaskets. What ones do I need? Mainfold to head and manifold to cat pipe? Do I need any nuts and bolts?

Basically yes, You get new nuts for the manifold which I used but may not be needed and you get the 'three amegos' which again may not be needed.
If doing it yourself, make sure that the manifold to head nuts and the manifold to downpipe bolts are torqued up first before the brackets to the engine. This means you get a leak free exhaust. I had to use a nut and bolt instead of the original bolt on one of the manifold to block lower brackets because it wouldn't line up but it worked fine for five plus years.

Sorry to sound dull what are the 3 amigos?

Swanseamr2

Ahh I see the 3 amigos are the studs for the manifold to cat. So I need new nuts for the manifold to head . I need the manifold to head gasket, the 3 studs for manifold to cat and the bolts for this and the 2 gaskets for the manifold to cat?

You are correct,  the three amigos are the three studs and nuts that connect the manifold to the cat.

If you go for that manifold,  then it comes with manifold to head nuts, the three amigos studs and nuts, and gaskets for both, however as has been said, I wouldn't use the gaskets.  Get proper toyota ones.

I also got new head studs just incase one snaps or comes out. Best to use a new one in that case.

I bought 5 but only needed one!

Thanks Swanseamr2, I just bought the same manifold from the same chap after reading this. I'll keep the old manifold in case a future owner wants to return it to stock.

Nice! What did shipping and tax come in at?

Shipping around £180 tax? Bit cheaper and less hassle than going turbo.

As in you will most likely have to pay VAT @ 20% and import duty.

Cant be compared to going turbo.
Not even close.

Please let me know where you buy your turbo kits? Complete new kit that is!
I have a budget of 4k and it's still a struggle to find one!

Just buy the parts.
Kits are overpriced.
A trusty mechanic is the problem.

180 will do me...ecu not my field will have to have a read and collect more info on this.
People say just go and buy a car that's had it all done!....Not quite the same as tinkering
Yourself. The N/A BMW had it all but I got fed up with that.

These cars are light low to the ground and fun to drive....Just need to be tinkering

180bhp will take all your money.
Going turbo or 2zz is way cheaper than 1zz na.
