Its doin' my nut in lately!
Whenever I see some nice weather I rush to throw the roof back but while it goes back easy enough will it clip in place?  No!  It decides it needs to be slammed down 10 times before it will catch!  The other day when I was trying repeatedly to secure the roof the front of the catch, the bit with 'PULL' on it, flew off and smacked me in the face!!   s:x :x s:x
I feel like I'm gonna do some serious damage to the mechanism by slamming it down so hard.
Do any of you guys have to apply that much pressure?
Is this something Mr.T can fix?

What I find works...  is to use one hand to make sure the glass window folds flat as you do it.

The catch is much easier to do if you do that.

The one hand on the glass works really well.

Take care when putting the roof down. The window can break very easily and is an expesive repair job. I have also had the "pull" tab nearly take an eye out.

use a bit of translucent(see thru) bath sealant for the pull tab, it's flexible enough to last the abuse it'll get and strong enough not to take your eye out, as for dropping the roof see above

There's a real difference between putting down the top in the morning when you got out to the garage, and putting down the top after the car's been sitting in the sun for awhile.

In general, if the top is sun-warmed, it seems to almost fold itself down.

If the top is "cold," I ease it back and down, continuously taking up the slack by nudging in the window with my hand just above the glass. I might raise it and lower it in degrees as necessary until it goes down with no slack and there's no feeling of pressure or resistance.

Then... "click," it snaps down nicely.
