Stuck seat

Hi,

I got in my car this morning to go to work, my girlfirend had been driving it over the weekend so I had to move the seat back to be able to get in the car. I hopped in after sliding the seat all the way back. I then tried to move the seat a bit forward again so I could push the clutch all the way down and I found that it would move maybe 1 notch forwards   s:( :( s:(  .

I tried moving the seat back and forth in the small amount of space it would move but it would not become unstuck. I tried it when I wasn't sitting on it, I tried wiggling it around, tried side to side but alas the seat would not budge   s:x :x s:x  .

Has anyone else had a problem like this? I can only think that maybe some change has fallen into one of the runners and has become stuck. I think I will probably have to take the seat out this evening to try to find what is going on. Thoroughly annoyed with it.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try before I take the seat out???

Please help, not keen on driving it when it is like this.

Thanks,

Fraz.

Just take it out, it's only 4 bolts (and one electrical connector under it). You might break something, if you try to force it to move...
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

I thought I might have to   s:( :( s:(  . Trouble is I am at work now and have no tools apart from the wheel brace in the car. I may have a fiddle (with the seat) at lunchtime.

Found an article on Spydermag about changing the seat. Doesn't look too hard but I guess I do need the top down. Best start praying for sun.

Stupid english weather.   s:x :x s:x

I think you can squeeze it out even with the top up. Topless just makes it a lot easier...

Just be careful with the seat base, so you won't scratch anything  s:? :? s:?

Thanks muchly for the offer. I am really hoping that it is gonna be an easy fix. Hadn't considered it might not be repairable. At the moment it is only just driveable. Can't be having it off the road.   s:cry:  s:cry:

Just annoyed I don't have my socket set at work with me. Will ask around and see if anyone has one.

Get your hand underneath the chair and have a rummage around near the runners and so on. I had something under the seat that got it stuck. Was a piece of paper with directions to a mates house on it! Was tightly folded, so quite thick, but had got jammed at the front of the seat runner and was stopping it from moving forward. Moved that and all was well!

Just have a check first. Might save you a lot of hassle........

Right. I had a good rummage at lunchtime and no luck. I think it is stuck on the seatbelt side. When I lift the lever and pull the seat forwards that is a metallic sounding clank from that side of the seat.   s:x :x s:x

I will have another go when I get home tonight but I fear I might need to remove the seat.

Really annoying thing is that the seat is stuck at the back, hence I can't move it far enough forwards to gain easy access to the bolts that hold it down.   s:evil:  s:evil:    s:evil:  s:evil:    s:evil:  s:evil:

I think I will just be able to get the bolts out but it is gonna be really tricky. Will have a good feel before I start removing the seat.

Most miffed.   s:( :( s:(

I bet that there is a £1 coin in the runner.  It has happened to me before but it may have been my old car.

 s:D :D s:D  Yay. I found the culprit.

A bit mangled

I had to undo the front 2 bolts. I couldn't get to the 2 at the back. Once the front 2 were undone I could see right under the seat and spotted the offending article.

All sorted now and I have learnt a valuable lesson. That handy cup holder works well for change.   s:twisted:  s:twisted:

Happy bunny now. Thanks for all your help.
