PFL radio? Limited FM tuning range?

This head unit was in the car when I collected it on Tues.

Whilst having a quick seek through the stations (searching for Kiss 100FM) the display skipped from abou 91.00 fm back down to the 70 somethings fm?

Is there a button or summat to widen the range, or is the car/radio that old that those frequencies didn't exist when they build the unit?

It's Toyota badged, so assume it's the original from the car.

Is there a direct (cheapie) swap over unit - mainly radio as don't use CD or tape much in cars, that will pick up the more 'modern' radio stations/frequencies that will not require lots of re-wiring, splicing, facia swaps etc. etc.that anyone can suggest I look out for to buy?

I've got my original radio that never had a problem with it a pfl or a fl mr2 radio if you want one just cover the post and I'll send you one let me no I'll take pics or a

Judging by the mats in the car it's an MR-S so will probably be a Japanese radio which has a different set of FM frequency bands. You can get frequency extenders that off-set the base frequency to allow you to scan the UK range but the display won't match the actual frequency being received.

I presume a swap out for a UK spec radio will not be a compatibility issue?

As far as I remember, the adaptor harness I used when I moved away from Japanese radio to an aftermarket affair was the same one as our UK owners use. On that basis a straight swap of J-spec for Euro-spec factory- fitted should work (without needing an adaptor harness). Mind you, it was eons ago. Could be wrong.

Drivers one is a bit threadbare and ripped already, but you're more than welcome to them when I get around to ordering a new set.

ahhhhh I have been raging for ages why my minidisc player radio wouldn't pick up capital!!! now I know even though I just put it on 85,8 and picks it moderately well lol
