I changed to fl headlights a little while ago, now I seem to be lacking something...
I'm not sure whether this happened straight away, or it has happened since, if I'm going to be honest  s:? :? s:?
Basically, the blue warning light on the dash no longer comes up for high beam. I've changed the bulb, but that made no difference  s:( :( s:(
Has anyone else come across this? Is there a fix for it?
Thanks in advance, as always  s:D :D s:D

have a look here mate, this explains the wiring, so you'll see where you have gone wrong and hopefully how to sort it out!

Yeah, I did see that one.
From what I can see, a few people have had the problem, but nobody has found a solution yet  s:( :( s:(

My blue light works with the high beam but my dipped beam goes off when they're on. Not the way standard FL lights work but its passed a couple of MOTs so can't be too bad  s:D :D s:D

from my skim reading, the problem in that thread is that the main drops when full is turned on, not the lack of blue light on dash. TBH I'd be very surprised if you failed an MOT for the main dropping, so if you are interested in getting your ticket then that solution will be fine, but if you want best illumination then you need to keep searching...

Said this a few times, the wiring everyone does is switching everything as if there is two live wire and one neutral. In fact there is two neutrals and only one live. The stock system switches the neutrals. The blue light is a diode so only works one way.

So the PFL--> FL wiring conversion swaps the lights to be powered backwards? If the diode was replaced with a LED that would work I guess...

An led is a diode. The pre is fed a common live and each bulb neutral is switch at the stalk. What is needed is a 5 pin relay that connects a neutral for dip when the neutral for high is switched.

I hooked it up with a 5 pin relay (per Russ's diagram). I wouldn't begin to know what I hooked up to who!
Would anyone be able to show how to split the earth, instead of the lives?

I'm assuming that on a F/L car, Full beam doesn't kill the dip beam?

Correct, it dip and full with dip.
