After a FEW long months, I'm going to arbitration at the end of this month. This is my situation:

 m http://www.spyderchat.com/phpBB/viewtop ... highlight= m

About a month ago, my daily driver corolla blew the head gasket and I am now stuck and unable to build a case. My strategy was to formulate a process of Pre-cat failure and have various mechanics sign to petition that my process is mechanically possible and correct. Although, I am now stuck and the love on SpyderChat is all I have. I did not fix my corolla because I do not have the funds to fix both cars if I am wrongfully responsible for the MR2's motor replacement. I am in great need of assistance.

For the MR2's that have received a short block replacement due to Pre-cat failure, I would appreciate any copies Toyota documentation of your warranted replacement. If you do not have any documentation saved and wouldn't mind helping me, providing a name and contact number for my arbitrator to ask a few question of your similar situation would also be great.

I would like at least 5 seperate situation documents and if not possible at least 5 names and numbers. If I can show that this is also a international problem, it will help.

Can't really offer you any prove, cause Toyota is being very secretive about these things...but I had the issue myself and it seems to be pretty common issue with new Corolla and Avensis as well. I know several blown engines over here already and I don't even know that many Corolla/Avensis owners  s:? :? s:?

...but since every time one tries to ask Toyota about it, they always say they've never heard of the problem, we must all be imagining it. Funny how they don't even remember the blown engines they've replaced themselves, but tell everyone theirs is the first  s:roll:  s:roll:
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

Hi Mate,

Just had Cat / Pre Cat / Short Block replaced.

Cat / Pre-Cat replaced by extended warranty (car 60k with FTSH and 2 year extended unlimted warranty, Toyota's own AON)

Basically there is a list that the dealer orders, each case in handled individually, as reported above, very little is discussed about whats happended and why, needless to say I tried as it really interest me.

The part lists come to about £1,400 with the total job costing approx £2,400 with labour, etc.

It is apparently a fault that keeps occouring with Avensis 1.8's as well, thus a actual problem with the engine it's self, seems to be something to do with the oil, delivery system and the bores going oval, try and get any more out of them and your doing well.

I looked at my engine whilst in bits, all peices looked really clean and immaculate, I can only deduce that the engine has been modified whilst in product due to these failure's and any older designed engines that go are dealt with on a case by case basis i.e. good service history, etc, etc.... apparently it is highly unusual for them to reject a Post Warranty Claim like this, normally it's only rejected if service intervals have been abused.

As for contact detail, my dealer is Listers Toyota Lincoln, Ask for Richard - Service Manager - 01522 522097, I'm not sure you will get any details out of him as, as you say they are being very secreative about it.

Good Luck

Cheers

They don't admit it was the precats on
mine, it was the oval bore problem as well, according to MrT.

Didn't get any paper info about the fix, just a bit of a run around.

Good luck.
